I’ve been watching the market since 2021 and I have to ask this honestly.
Back then, we used to say “Bitcoin is digital gold” – when stocks crashed, crypto was supposed to save us.
But in 2026, I’m seeing something different:
– When US stocks dump, Bitcoin dumps even harder
– Stablecoins are not even that stable anymore with all the depegging news
– Altcoins can lose 70% in a week and everyone just says “buy the dip”
– Inflation is still high, but crypto didn’t really hedge it like gold did
On the other hand, BTC still did over 3x from 2023 lows, and countries are now holding it as reserves. So maybe we are looking at it wrong?
For those who have been here for 2+ cycles:
Do you still treat crypto as a safe haven? Or do you now treat it as a high-risk, high-reward tech bet like NVDA / Tesla?
And if it IS still a safe haven, which coins actually qualify? BTC only, or ETH too?
Not financial advice, just want to learn how you all are positioning in 2026.
