I want to share a story about the risks of working anonymously with a client as a trader.

I won’t go into all the details of how or why I ended up taking on an anonymous client. In the end, whenever money is involved, that’s usually what matters most.

I had a client — past tense now — whose account I traded for for more than four years.

We always split the profits honestly, depending on the results. Most of the time, the split was 60/40 in the client’s favor. We didn’t settle every month; we only divided meaningful amounts when there was enough profit accumulated.

Our communication was entirely through Telegram messages. No calls, no video meetings. It worked perfectly well for both of us.

I had API access to a sub-account, with trading permissions only. I couldn’t withdraw funds or do anything else with the account.

Then, at the beginning of this year, the client warned me that there would be some difficulties with communication for several months and that he might be completely unreachable, even if a critical problem occurred with the account.

We had built up a lot of trust over the years, so I didn’t see this as a major concern. We weren’t communicating every month anyway.

A few months passed. Trading continued as usual.

I was living off my savings, expecting that eventually my trading income would compensate for what I was spending.

To be clear, I’m not some spectacular trader making huge returns. My income is relatively modest, and so are my expenses. I traded conservatively, without taking huge risks, making small gains on a regular basis. Over time, those small gains accumulated into something meaningful.

But after six months of complete silence, I started getting worried.

Still, I kept hoping everything was fine.

Another couple of months passed. My savings were starting to run low, and it was becoming increasingly difficult to keep believing that everything would work out.

The client still didn’t respond.

And then, one day, the API keys were revoked.

That was it.

I could no longer access the account — and I couldn’t even close the open positions.

My source of income had effectively been cut off.

At this point, I can only imagine two realistic explanations:

The client has legal problems. The client has serious health problems.

I don’t even seriously consider the possibility that this was an attempt to scam me. It would make very little sense. I was consistently generating profits, so there was no obvious reason to suddenly cut me off.

And here’s the interesting part.

For more than four years, everything worked so well that I never even thought about documenting my results or publicly showcasing my trades.

First, it didn’t feel professional.

Second, I didn’t want unnecessary attention.

But now I’ve realized just how vulnerable that setup was.

I can’t even properly demonstrate my track record to a potential new client.

All of my trading history and performance data were pulled through the exchange API and weren’t stored separately in the software I used for trading.

So I basically have no portfolio to show.

The only screenshot I ever kept was this one — the screenshot I once showed my wife to explain why I was still doing this.

This was the amount I was expecting to receive 50% of, based on our agreement during the client’s temporary absence.

So, what’s the point of this post?

Because, due to the anonymous nature of our relationship, there is realistically no way for me to demand payment. Technically, I don’t even know who I would file a lawsuit against.

But honestly, I probably wouldn’t do that anyway.

Things happened the way they happened.

And despite everything, I still actually like working anonymously.

There’s no unnecessary stress, no constant calls, no excessive demands, and no pressure to constantly report to someone. It’s a very comfortable way to work.

But it also creates a very obvious problem:

When your entire income depends on one anonymous client, you are carrying a risk that you may not fully appreciate until something goes wrong.

And in today’s world, that risk feels even more significant.

So my question to the community is:

Are there any platforms or services that allow this kind of anonymous client–trader relationship, but in a structured way — essentially putting the whole process on autopilot?

Something where the client can remain anonymous, the trader can remain anonymous, profits can be tracked and distributed automatically, and neither side has to rely entirely on personal trust and a couple of API keys.

I’m genuinely curious if something like this already exists.
