I keep seeing young people in Miami and online flexing Lambos, SVJs, watches, penthouses, crazy trips, and saying it all came from crypto.

I know a lot of it is probably fake, rented, inherited money, paid promotions, or straight-up scams. I’m not here asking for some “100x coin,” paid signal group, or random person to DM me with a secret method. I’m trying to understand the real ways people actually make money in crypto.

Are people making money from trading? Getting into coins early? Airdrop farming? DeFi? Memecoins? Arbitrage? Building tools? Launching projects? Working for crypto startups? Running communities? Creating content? Marketing? On chain research? Something else?

I’m willing to work as hard as I need to, especially this summer because I’m going to have a lot of free time. I don’t want to just gamble and hope. I want to build actual skills, understand the game, and learn what paths are realistic for someone starting now.

For people who have actually made money in crypto or worked in the space:

What would you recommend learning first? What skills matter the most? What are the biggest traps beginners fall into? What should I avoid completely?

Is it still realistic to make serious money in crypto starting now, or is most of the opportunity gone unless you already have money, connections, or an audience?

I’m open to brutal honesty. I’d rather hear the truth than get hyped up and lose money.
