Article says “cryptocurrency payments” (not just Bitcoin) are being accepted to transit the Hormuz Strait. Logic dictates that the Iran government already knows that US hedge funds control Bitcoin supply and price, as this is common knowledge to anyone in the crypto sphere. Therefore they’re likely to choose a different cryptocurrency, or accept multiple cryptos as payment. Transacting on a high profile network like Bitcoin will very likely result in BTC addresses being added to OFAC sanctions and make the BTC hard to sell for Iran.
It’s entirely possible that Iran will start to accept privacy coins for payment. They’re harder to track and sanction.
