Token buybacks get treated like a safety net, but most of the time they’re just fighting whatever supply is coming out the other side. If a protocol is still unlocking tokens, emitting incentives, or vesting insiders, buybacks don’t really reduce supply, they just change who the buyer is. The Terra quote “Deploying more capital – steady lads.” still sticks for a reason like deploying capital without fixing the structure just turns into exit liquidity. Feels like the market is slowly relearning that net flows matter more than headlines.
