Today’s AWS outage is the perfect reminder of how fragile the internet really is. When Amazon’s cloud stumbled, huge parts of daily life blinked out. Websites, apps, online stores, even basic services people rely on all went dark. One company’s downtime rippled across the entire web. That is the quiet flaw in the system we have built. Everything depends on a few centralized clouds that hold most of the internet on their shoulders. ICP takes a completely different path. It runs on a decentralized network of independent data centers that host code and content directly on-chain, so there is no single point waiting to fail. While most of the web froze, ICP apps stayed online because the compute and storage live inside the protocol itself, not on rented servers. Today’s outage was not just an inconvenience, it was a warning shot. The internet should not shut down when one company has a bad day.
