Global Ransomware 'Locky' infects India, here is everything that you should know - PCMag India

The recent WannaCry and Petya ransomware attacks were one of the biggest global cyber attacks. A new ransomware has hit the world and like the last two, this is a serious one. According to reports, the ransomware is spreading through emails with subject like ‘please print”, ‘documents, ‘images’,’pictures’ and including others. The ransomware spreads through spam emails containing a the malicious file under a ZIP attachment and there have been reports of Dropbox links as well. The ZIP file contains the ransomware disguised under a VB (Visual Basic) script. Once a user opens the attachments, the Locky ransomware ‘Lukitus’ automatically downloads on their computer. If you don’t want to be a victim, we advise you that it is best to not open any dodgy emails from unknown contacts and even if you do, DO NOT download any files or attachments as they could carry the ransomware.
