WWF Bloсkchain To Track Food Supply

blockspoint via

The Australian branch of World Wildlife Fund (WWF-Australia) will launch a blockchain platform to help organizations and consumers to track food supply, according to the organization’s press release. The platform called OpenSC is the result of the cooperation between WWF-Australia and BCG Digital Ventures (BCGDV), an investment division of the American company Boston Consulting Group. The blockchain solution will allow companies that produce food to monitor its quality, and buyers will be able to find out its origin using “a unique blockchain code”.

OpenSC will designate corresponding QR codes to all products of companies which will decide to take part in the production and supply scheme. These codes will be directly connected with the blockchain platform, and that will make it possible for buyers to see the entire life cycle of a product. Producers will not be able to hide data on the product’s quality and origin anymore.

Dermot O’Gorman, the WWF-Australia CEO, declared that OpenSC will lead people to an entirely new level of information on what they eat and whether this product satisfies ecological requirements. According to the press release, products tracked by OpenSC will be served to them. As previously reported, the Overstock company has acquired a $2.5 mln stake in GrainChain, the agricultural project on blockchain. Coin spectator is an automated news aggregation service.
