London’s Heathrow airport will be shut all day on Friday, with more than 1,000 flights expected to be affected after a nearby fire triggered a major power cut.

A fire at the North Hyde electrical substation in west London late Thursday night caused a power cut to thousands of homes as well as Europe’s busiest airport. The London fire brigade has now confirmed that the fire is under control.
