US basketball players from the Golden States Warriors, Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala, are the latest athletes to be partially paid in cryptocurrency. The NBA stars announced their paycheck plans on Twitter, revealing that they will be receiving part of their salaries in Bitcoin.

The NBA players advertised CashApp for Bitcoin transactions, and spoke of a $1M giveaway to fans. To participate in the draw, users simple need to write #PaidInBitcoin in the comments and follow CashApp’s Twitter account.

On the Flipside

In November 2021, NFL player Aaron Rodgers stated that he wanted to receive salary payments partially in Bitcoin; NFL player Odell Beckham Jr recently went a step further by revealing that he would prefer to receive his entire salary in Bitcoin. Some government officials, such as Miami’s Mayor and New York’s next mayor have also made clear their intentions to be paid in crypto.
