RoboMarkets has appointed Jon Holguin, a former private banker at UBS and Credit Suisse, as chief executive of its Swiss business. Holguin announced the move in a LinkedIn post this week, and his profile lists the Zurich-based role as starting in October.

The hire puts a wealth manager and product issuer in charge of the group’s Swiss push. It comes two years after RoboMarkets decided to refocus its European business on stocks, bonds and ETFs, and the group added 1,300 US-listed stocks and ETFs in November 2025.

The Swiss market for that kind of business has a large local player. Online bank Swissquote held a record CHF 96.3 billion in client assets at the end of June, across more than 1.2 million accounts.

From Private Banking to Product Issuance

Holguin spent more than three years at Credit Suisse until 2020, managing ultra-high-net-worth clients from the Middle East, according to his profile. Before that, he worked at UBS.

He later moved to the manufacturing side. At DCG, he was managing director of a group running issuance platforms for structured and exchange-traded products in Guernsey.

From October 2022, he served as chief distribution officer and deputy CEO at Helveteq. The Swiss firm issues exchange-traded products listed on SIX Swiss Exchange.

Before joining RoboMarkets, he was chief operating officer and managing director at Euler Heritage Family Office in Zug. He held that post from February 2024 to June 2026.

In the post, Holguin said the new role gives him the chance to “build strong, long-lasting partnerships in the Swiss market.”

Stocks, Bonds and ETFs From Frankfurt

In Europe, the group’s Cyprus entity now serves institutional clients only. Retail business runs through RoboMarkets Deutschland GmbH in Frankfurt, regulated by the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin).

In Switzerland, the German entity is represented by RoboMarkets Swiss GmbH in Zug. The Zug company appears on the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) list of approved representative offices of foreign securities firms.

Outside Europe, the group’s Dubai unit, run by CEO Karine Ugarte, obtained a Category 1 license from the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) in September 2025. The license allows it to onboard clients, hold funds and execute trades locally.
