Søren Kyhl has stepped down as Chief Executive Officer of Nordic digital bank Lunar after around four months in the role.
Kyhl announced his departure in a LinkedIn post today (Wednesday).
“After careful consideration, I have decided to resign as CEO and leave Lunar,” Kyhl said.
A Decade-Long Tenure at Saxo Bank
Before joining Lunar, Kyhl spent more than a decade at Saxo Bank.
He joined the investment bank as Chief Operating Officer and later became Deputy CEO and COO. He held the latter position for more than seven years and remained with Saxo until earlier this year.
As Deputy CEO and COO, Kyhl was a member of Saxo Bank’s Board of Management. His responsibilities included the COO function alongside his role in the bank’s senior management.
He left Saxo following J. Safra Sarasin’s acquisition of a majority stake in the bank.
More Than 13 Years at Danske
Before Saxo, Kyhl spent more than 13 years at Danske Bank, where he held several senior positions across banking operations and markets.
His roles included Global Head of Transaction Banking and COO in Corporate & Institutions, Global Co-Head of Danske Markets, and COO and Global Head of Research at Danske Markets.
He also served as Global Head of Research, Quant and Business Development, Global Head of Research, and Head of Fixed Income and Credit Research at Danske Markets.
J. Safra Sarasin Takes Control of Saxo
J. Safra Sarasin Group acquired roughly 71% of Saxo Bank in a transaction valued at about €1.1 billion when announced. The deal transferred shares previously held by Geely Financials Denmark, Mandatum Group and other investors.
The transaction resulted in changes to Saxo’s senior management. Daniel Belfer became CEO, while several other executives took on new roles across the bank.
