Monex Group has integrated its Japanese brokerage subsidiary Monex Securities with ChatGPT and Claude, allowing customers to access account information through natural-language conversations with AI.
The move comes as brokers and trading platforms expand their use of AI connections. IG Australia recently linked trading accounts to ChatGPT through an MCP server, while Interactive Brokers has enabled Claude to access client accounts for trade preparation. Finance Magnates has also reported on the broader shift towards AI agents acting as an interface between traders and platforms.
Monex Claims First Major Broker MCP Service
Launched today (Wednesday), the Monex service uses the Model Context Protocol (MCP) through a new MONEX MCP Server. Customers who agree to link their accounts can check assets, order status, deposit and withdrawal history, mutual fund information and selected Monex analysis tools without opening the broker’s website or mobile app.
On ChatGPT, the service is offered as a plugin that Monex said had passed OpenAI’s review and approval. It is also available on Claude as a custom connector.
Monex Securities said the service is the first of its kind among major Japanese securities companies. The company defines the group as the five largest full-service brokers and five major online securities firms.
Service Focuses on Account Information, Not Trading
The launch follows a similar initiative by Monex Group’s US subsidiary, TradeStation Securities, which connected securities accounts to an AI platform through MCP in January.
Monex said it views AI as a new interface between customers and financial services rather than only as an operational tool. It expects natural-language access to account information to increase customer interaction with its services.
For now, the service focuses on account information and reference functions rather than trading. Users can make requests such as, “Tell me my current asset status” or ask for their deposit and withdrawal history for a specific month.
