Can we stop saying “there are too many coins” and “there are millions of cryptocurrencies”?
There are only 1,000 layer 1 coins. There are millions of layer 2’s. We should be speaking about them that way so the public catches on early and so the space is thought of appropriately.
Layer 2’s pump and dump often. They offer almost no value besides speculation or stablecoins.
Layer 1’s grow or die with hash.
We should not lump L1’s and L2’s together as “all cryptocurrency”. It makes the space that much more daunting to newcomers, in my opinion. We should rebrand and make clear distinctions from the top positions to the average user in crypto to keep the space accessible and honest.
