tbh we all know how those high-profile stadium naming rights deals from the last cycle aged. whenever i see crypto companies burning millions on sports teams, i just assume its a massive waste of capital or some CEO’s ego trip. right now you’ve got OKX on Man City, Kraken doing the F1 stuff, and BYDFi on Newcastle.
i’m a newcastle fan. for the longest time i just assumed the sponsor on our shirt was some random fly-by-night exchange that would be dead in a year. but honestly seeing it on the ad boards every single match kinda wore me down. out of pure curiosity i looked them up back in jan.
fully expected to find a trash UI or some sketchy setup but its actually a completely normal, functional platform. ended up moving a small chunk of my trading volume over there just to mess around. it held up really well through all these recent Q1 dumps.
kinda made me rethink the whole marketing strategy. the logo got me to look, and the app not sucking got me to stay. guess the funnel actually works.
