It’s been a while since I gave an update on coins in the Quantum Resistance category. The discussions have evolved, including my own.

Some will forever consider quantum computing risk as FUD and not an issue.

Unfortunately, the topic has gained so much attention, there will continue to be perceived risk. And in my opinion, it is much better to focus on the solutions, rather than argue about the risk. Perceived risk goes away if people see things being addressed. And many are trying to outline how btc and top coins will navigate this.

For the QR category, some view them as a “hedge” to the threat. Personally, even as a holder of QANX, I think there will be some action taken to retain BTC as a store of value. It might be disruptive and create a lot of headaches, but I suspect there will be alignment on how to upgrade.

As that happens, however, the utility coins will also need to prove out their solutions. This is where the QR category becomes much more visible.

So what’s been happening?

Zcash was added into the category on CMC. While the protocol isn’t QR if you want to make public transactions, you can make shielded transactions that would be protected. So it’s not leverage post quantum cryptography, but does offer some protection.

QRL saw a nice surge recently as Quantum news picked up. It seems to benefit the most from the QR narrative as a potential hedge

QANX -I hold this -has had a slow decline as auditing took up most of last year. They delivered strong news with Signquantum and Ueno bank, which points to lasting use cases as systems worldwide look for upgrade solutions. Final stages of audit set the stage for the mainnet push.

Cellframe had a substantial decline which I don’t know the details for.

Starknet, Naoris, QuantumCoin were also added, which I don’t know enough about to comment.

Before the newcomers, and recent events, there wasn’t a much divergence among the coins. Now we are seeing all of them behave quite differently. I consider this a good sign as it means many of the projects aren’t just playing a narrative or hype. But I do think they will all benefit from the topic because it only increases in visibility, whereas many narratives are hot for a while and fade.
